Tian Fan

I earned my B.S. in psychology from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Beijing Forestry University. In 2017, I joined the BNU Metacognition & Learning Lab as a Master student. Continuing my academic journey within the lab, I transitioned into a Ph.D. candidate in 2019. From September 2021 to October 2022, I visited Professor Dr. Anique de Bruin’s Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) lab at the School of Health Professions Education, Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

My research primarily revolves around metamemory and effective learning strategies. One aspect of my work delves into the cognitive mechanisms underlying judgments of learning (JOLs). Another facet of my research centers on examining students’ utilization of effective learning strategies, such as testing (or retrieval practice).
